- 3 ½ cups All-Purpose Flour
- ½ cup Granulated Sugar
- 2 ¼ tsp Active Dry Yeast
- ¾ cup Warm Milk
- ¼ cup Unsalted Butter, melted
- 2 large Eggs
- ½ tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
- 2 medium Granny Smith Apples, diced
- ⅓ cup Brown Sugar
- 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
- ¼ tsp Ground Nutmeg
- 1 tbsp Cornstarch
- Vegetable Oil for frying
- ½ cup Granulated Sugar (for coating)
- 1 tbsp Ground Cinnamon (for coating)
Instructions
- Warm the milk to about 110°F and proof the yeast for 5 minutes until bubbly.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, and cinnamon. Add eggs, butter, milk, and yeast. Mix into a soft dough and knead for 8 to 10 minutes.
- Lightly grease a bowl, place the dough inside, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 1 to 1½ hours or until doubled.
- Roll dough to about ½ inch thick. Cut with donut cutter. Let rise again for 30 minutes while you prepare the filling.
- To make filling, cook diced apples, brown sugar, lemon juice, nutmeg, and cornstarch in a saucepan until tender and thickened. Let cool.
- Heat oil to 350°F. Fry donuts for about 2 minutes per side until golden brown. Drain on a cooling rack.
- Roll warm donuts in cinnamon sugar. Fill each donut with the chilled apple mixture using a spoon or piping bag.
- Serve warm and enjoy.

- Use a thermometer to maintain oil temperature at 350°F.
- Chill the filling before piping to prevent leakage.
- Store in an airtight container and reheat in a low oven before serving.
