Description
Beef Gravy Potatoes is a hearty, comforting dish featuring tender potatoes smothered in a rich, savory beef gravy—perfect as a side or a satisfying main.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add potatoes and cook until tender, about 10-12 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Add butter, chopped onion, and minced garlic to the beef. Sauté until onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Sprinkle flour over the beef mixture and stir well, cooking for 1-2 minutes to eliminate the raw flour taste.
- Gradually pour in beef broth while stirring to avoid lumps. Add Worcestershire sauce, and season with salt and pepper.
- Simmer the gravy for 5-7 minutes until thickened.
- Add the cooked potatoes to the skillet and gently stir to coat them with the beef gravy.
- Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve hot.
Notes
- Use leftover mashed potatoes for a quicker version.
- Add a splash of heavy cream for an extra rich gravy.
- Top with shredded cheese for a cheesy variation.
