Description

Golden flaky puff pastry filled with a savory blend of ground beef and lamb, herbs, and spices. These sausage rolls bake to a crisp exterior with a juicy, flavorful center that makes them perfect for snacks, gatherings, or a comforting meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 250 grams ground beef
  • 250 grams ground lamb
  • 2 puff pastry sheets
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground lamb, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, breadcrumbs, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until evenly combined.
  3. Lay the puff pastry sheets flat on a clean work surface.
  4. Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions and shape each into a long log across the center of each pastry sheet.
  5. Fold the pastry over the filling and seal the edges to form a long roll.
  6. Cut each roll into evenly sized pieces and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Beat the egg and brush it over the top of each pastry roll.
  8. Bake for 25 minutes until the pastry is golden brown and crisp.
  9. Allow the rolls to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Keep puff pastry cold while working to maintain a flaky texture.
  • You can chill the assembled rolls for 10 minutes before baking for even better pastry layers.
  • Serve with tomato sauce, yogurt dip, or mustard for extra flavor.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to three days and reheated in the oven.
