Description
A bright and zesty pizza that brings together fresh mozzarella, thin lemon slices, and fragrant basil on a golden, crisp crust. It’s fresh, vibrant, and totally irresistible.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- ¾ cup warm water
- 8 ounces fresh mozzarella
- 1–2 lemons, thinly sliced
- Handful of fresh basil leaves
- 1 garlic clove, optional
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it inside to heat.
- In a bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy. Add flour, salt, and olive oil. Mix and knead for about 8 minutes until smooth.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface. Dust a pizza peel or sheet pan with flour or cornmeal.
- Transfer dough to your pan or stone. Lightly brush with olive oil. Top with thin lemon slices and torn mozzarella.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes until crust is golden and cheese is bubbling and browned.
- Remove from oven. Scatter fresh basil on top. Let cool for a few minutes.
- Slice and serve warm.
Notes
- Use very thin lemon slices to avoid bitterness.
- Blot mozzarella to reduce moisture and prevent sogginess.
- Fresh basil is best added after baking to preserve flavor and color.
