- 1 large head green cabbage
- 500 grams ground beef
- 1 cup uncooked white rice
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 180°C and prepare a baking dish.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, uncooked rice, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, paprika, and parsley. Mix well until evenly combined.
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil and carefully soften the cabbage leaves until tender. Remove and let cool.
- Place a portion of filling onto each cabbage leaf, roll tightly, and arrange them neatly in the prepared baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, mix tomato sauce with tomato paste, then pour evenly over the cabbage rolls.
- Cover and bake for 1 hour until the cabbage is tender and the filling is fully cooked.
- Remove from oven, let rest for a few minutes, then serve warm with extra sauce.
Notes
- Do not overfill the cabbage leaves to keep them easy to roll
- Boil cabbage leaves until soft to prevent tearing
- Keep rolls tightly packed in the dish for best shape
- Add a little water if the sauce becomes too thick during cooking
