Description

Caramel Pecan Sticky Buns are soft, gooey rolls baked in a rich caramel sauce with crunchy pecans. Perfectly sweet and indulgent, these buns are ideal for special breakfasts or holiday brunches.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Dough:
  • 3/4 cup warm milk (110°F/45°C)
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 to 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • For the Filling:
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • For the Caramel Topping:
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 1 tablespoon heavy cream
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and a pinch of sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Stir in the remaining sugar, melted butter, salt, egg, and 3 cups of flour. Mix until dough forms. Add more flour if needed.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. While the dough rises, make the caramel topping. In a saucepan, melt butter, brown sugar, corn syrup, and cream over medium heat. Bring to a simmer and cook for 2–3 minutes. Pour into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish and sprinkle with chopped pecans.
  5. Roll out the risen dough into a 12×18-inch rectangle. Spread with softened butter, then sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Roll up the dough tightly from the long side and cut into 12 equal rolls.
  7. Place the rolls cut side down into the prepared baking dish. Cover and let rise for 30–45 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Let the buns cool for 5 minutes, then carefully invert the pan onto a serving tray to let the caramel and pecans coat the tops.
  10. Serve warm and enjoy the gooey deliciousness!

Notes

  • You can make the dough the night before and refrigerate it for a slower rise.
  • Use chopped walnuts instead of pecans if preferred.
  • For extra shine, brush the tops with a bit of melted butter after baking.
