Description

Crispy golden fries piled high with juicy sliced steak and finished with a warm chile butter sauce. This bold and comforting dish combines crunchy potatoes, tender steak, and rich buttery spice for a satisfying meal that is perfect for sharing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large russet potatoes, cut into fries
  • 1 pound flank steak
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 whole lime, cut into wedges
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat Your Equipment: Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Combine Ingredients: Toss the cut russet potatoes with salt and black pepper in a large bowl until evenly coated.
  3. Prepare Your Cooking Vessel: Spread the seasoned fries across the baking sheet in a single even layer.
  4. Assemble the Dish: Melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat, then stir in the minced garlic and chili powder until fragrant.
  5. Cook to Perfection: Roast the fries for about 30 minutes until golden and crisp. At the same time heat a cast iron skillet over medium high heat and sear the flank steak for about 4 minutes per side.
  6. Finishing Touches: Allow the steak to rest for 5 minutes, then slice it thinly against the grain. Drizzle the warm chile butter sauce over the fries and arrange the sliced steak on top.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Sprinkle chopped fresh cilantro over the dish and finish with a squeeze of fresh lime before serving.

Notes

  • Let the steak rest before slicing so it stays juicy.
  • Spread fries in a single layer to help them become crisp.
  • Adjust the chili powder if you want a milder or spicier sauce.
  • Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.
