Description

A savory twist on the classic meatloaf, inspired by Philly cheesesteaks — loaded with sautéed peppers, onions, and melty cheese, topped with sliced steak and baked to perfection.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb thinly sliced steak (ribeye or sirloin)
  • 1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 small green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 small red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking dish with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté peppers and onions until soft, about 5 minutes. Set aside to cool slightly.
  3. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, pepper, sautéed vegetables, and half the cheese. Mix just until combined.
  4. Form into a loaf in the prepared dish. Top with sliced steak and remaining cheese.
  5. Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  6. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Use sautéed mushrooms for extra depth of flavor.
  • Try using Cheez Whiz or American cheese for a more authentic Philly twist.
  • Leftovers make great sandwiches the next day.
