Description
A comforting and cheesy one-pot pasta dish combining the bold flavors of a sloppy joe and the richness of a cheeseburger for a quick and satisfying dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, for cooking)
- Chopped parsley or pickles for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat olive oil (if using) over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
- Add diced onion and garlic, and sauté until softened.
- Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and beef broth. Bring to a simmer.
- Add uncooked elbow macaroni, stir well, and cover.
- Reduce heat to medium-low and cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed.
- Turn off heat and stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with chopped parsley or diced pickles if desired. Serve warm.
Notes
- Use ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
- Add diced bell peppers or mushrooms for extra veggies and flavor.
- For a spicier version, add a dash of hot sauce or cayenne pepper.
