Description

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/4 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a larger bowl, cream the softened butter with both sugars until fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  5. Scoop dough balls onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake for 9–11 minutes, or until edges are golden and centers are still soft.
  7. Cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For extra depth of flavor, use dark brown sugar instead of light.
  • If your kitchen is warm, chill the dough for 15–20 minutes to prevent spreading.
  • Sprinkle a little sea salt on top before baking for a sweet-salty contrast.
