Description

A decadent, gooey dessert featuring a rich chocolate cake layer atop a molten fudge sauce, perfect for satisfying chocolate cravings.


Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (for topping)
  • 1 1/2 cups hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease an 8-inch square baking dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and stir until combined. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa powder. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter.
  5. Carefully pour the hot water over the top without stirring.
  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top looks set but the cobbler is still gooey underneath.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream if desired.

  • Do not stir after adding the hot water; it creates the fudgy sauce underneath.
