- 1 1/2 cups hot water
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease an 8-inch square baking dish.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and stir until combined. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking dish.
- In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa powder. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter.
- Carefully pour the hot water over the top without stirring.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top looks set but the cobbler is still gooey underneath.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream if desired.

- Do not stir after adding the hot water; it creates the fudgy sauce underneath.
