Description
A rich and comforting chocolate bread pudding swirled with creamy pockets of tangy cream cheese, baked until soft and custardy inside with a lightly crisp golden top.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 cups day old brioche bread, cut into 1 inch cubes
- 8 ounces cream cheese, cut into small cubes
- 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, whisk together whole milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, eggs, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
- Spread the brioche bread cubes evenly in the prepared baking dish.
- Pour the chocolate custard mixture over the bread and gently press down to help it absorb. Evenly scatter cream cheese cubes and chocolate chips over the top.
- Bake for 45 minutes, or until the center is just set and the top is lightly golden.
- Remove from oven and let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
- Serve warm and enjoy.
Notes
- Let the bread soak in the custard for 10 to 15 minutes before baking for best texture.
- Use room temperature cream cheese for smoother melting.
- If the top browns too quickly, loosely cover with foil.
