Description

This Chocolate Mud Pie Dessert is a rich, decadent treat with layers of chocolate pudding, cream cheese, whipped topping, and a chocolate cookie crust. It’s the perfect no-bake dessert for chocolate lovers and special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 24 chocolate sandwich cookies (like Oreos), crushed
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 (8 oz) container whipped topping (like Cool Whip), divided
  • 2 (3.9 oz) boxes instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 1/2 cups cold milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Chocolate shavings or chips, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix crushed chocolate cookies with melted butter until well combined. Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9×13 inch dish to form a crust. Chill for 10 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Fold in half of the whipped topping into the cream cheese mixture. Spread evenly over the chilled crust.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the instant pudding mix and cold milk until thickened, about 2 minutes. Spread the pudding over the cream cheese layer.
  5. Top with the remaining whipped topping and smooth out evenly.
  6. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or overnight) to set.
  7. Garnish with chocolate shavings or chips before serving, if desired.

Notes

  • Chill each layer briefly before adding the next for clean layers.
  • Use a food processor to crush the cookies finely for the crust.
  • Swap chocolate pudding for chocolate fudge or mousse for a richer variation.
  • Best served cold; store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
