Description
Whimsical, melt-in-your-mouth Christmas Tree Meringues that add festive cheer to your holiday dessert table.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large Egg Whites
- 1 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon Cream of Tartar
- 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- Green Gel Food Coloring (a few drops)
- Assorted Sprinkles (for decorating)
- Mini Cookies or Chocolate Discs (optional, for base)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200°F (90°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a clean bowl, beat egg whites on medium speed until foamy. Add cream of tartar and continue beating until soft peaks form. Slowly add sugar, one tablespoon at a time, then increase speed to high and beat until stiff, glossy peaks form. Mix in vanilla and green food coloring.
- Transfer the meringue to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.
- Pipe tree shapes onto the parchment-lined baking sheet. Decorate with sprinkles immediately.
- Bake for 90 minutes or until meringues are dry to the touch. Do not open the oven during baking.
- Turn off the oven and let meringues cool inside with the door slightly ajar for 1 hour.
- Once cooled, carefully peel from the parchment and place on mini cookies if desired. Serve immediately or store for later.
Notes
- Use room temperature egg whites for better volume.
- Ensure mixing bowl and beaters are grease-free.
- Cool meringues in the oven to prevent cracking.
- Store in airtight container away from moisture.
