Ingredients

- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 4 cups all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/3 cup coarse sugar
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Mix warm water, yeast, and granulated sugar. Let sit 5 minutes until foamy. Add brown sugar, salt, and flour then knead until smooth.
- Lightly oil a bowl with vegetable oil. Place dough inside, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
- Divide dough into 8 pieces. Roll each into a rope and shape into pretzels.
- Boil 8 cups water with baking soda. Dip each pretzel for 30 seconds and place on the baking sheet.
- Bake 12 to 15 minutes until golden. Brush with melted butter and coat in cinnamon sugar.
- Serve warm and enjoy.
Notes
- Use warm water around 110°F for best yeast activation.
- Brush pretzels with butter while hot so the cinnamon sugar sticks.
- Reheat in the oven to restore softness.
- Do not skip the baking soda bath for proper texture.
