Description

Soft Hawaiian sweet rolls are stuffed with a creamy crab rangoon-inspired filling, brushed with butter, and baked until warm and golden. They are cozy, crowd-pleasing, and perfect for sharing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (12 rolls) Hawaiian sweet dinner rolls
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 8 ounces imitation crab meat, finely chopped
  • 3 tablespoons green onions, thinly sliced, plus 1 tablespoon for garnish
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, chopped imitation crab, 3 tablespoons green onions, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and sugar until smooth and evenly combined.
  3. Place the dinner rolls in the prepared baking dish. Using a small serrated knife, cut a deep pocket into the top center of each roll without slicing all the way through.
  4. Spoon the filling evenly into each roll, gently pressing it into the pockets.
  5. Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds if using.
  6. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes, until the tops are lightly golden and the filling is warmed through.
  7. Let the rolls rest for 5 minutes, then sprinkle with the remaining 1 tablespoon green onions and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use room temperature cream cheese for the smoothest filling.
  • Do not overstuff the rolls, or the filling may bubble over while baking.
  • Serve with sweet chili sauce or soy dipping sauce for extra flavor.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat in the oven for best texture.
