Description
These homemade crackers are crisp, buttery, and easy to make with just a few pantry staples. Perfect for pairing with cheese, dips, or enjoying as a standalone snack.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces
- 1/4 cup water (more as needed)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for brushing)
- Optional toppings: sea salt, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, dried herbs
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, mix flour and salt. Cut in the butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add water a little at a time, mixing until a dough forms. Do not overwork.
- Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface as thin as possible (about 1/8 inch).
- Cut into desired shapes using a knife or cookie cutter and place on baking sheet.
- Brush with olive oil and sprinkle with optional toppings if desired.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until golden and crisp. Cool on a wire rack.
Notes
- Thinner dough = crispier crackers. Roll evenly for best texture.
- Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
- Try mixing in grated cheese, garlic powder, or herbs for flavored variations.
