Description

These homemade crackers are crisp, buttery, and easy to make with just a few pantry staples. Perfect for pairing with cheese, dips, or enjoying as a standalone snack.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces
  • 1/4 cup water (more as needed)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for brushing)
  • Optional toppings: sea salt, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, dried herbs

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour and salt. Cut in the butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add water a little at a time, mixing until a dough forms. Do not overwork.
  4. Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface as thin as possible (about 1/8 inch).
  5. Cut into desired shapes using a knife or cookie cutter and place on baking sheet.
  6. Brush with olive oil and sprinkle with optional toppings if desired.
  7. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until golden and crisp. Cool on a wire rack.

Notes

  • Thinner dough = crispier crackers. Roll evenly for best texture.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
  • Try mixing in grated cheese, garlic powder, or herbs for flavored variations.
