Description
A cozy, weeknight-friendly farfalle tossed in a silky tomato-cream sauce with savory ground beef, garlic, and Parmesan. Comforting, creamy, and ready in about 35 minutes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 ounces bowtie pasta (farfalle)
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium yellow onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 can (15 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1/2 cup reserved pasta cooking water, as needed
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of well-salted water to a rolling boil and set a deep skillet over medium heat.
- Heat olive oil in the skillet, add onion and garlic, and cook until softened and fragrant, about 2 to 3 minutes. Add ground beef, season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning, and cook, breaking it up, until browned.
- Drain excess fat if needed. Stir in crushed tomatoes and beef broth. Simmer gently for 8 to 10 minutes to meld flavors.
- Cook bowtie pasta until al dente, reserving 1/2 cup pasta water before draining. Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the sauce.
- Pour in heavy cream and sprinkle in Parmesan. Toss until the pasta is evenly coated and the sauce turns silky. Add a splash of reserved pasta water if you want a looser sauce.
- Taste and adjust seasoning. Stir in chopped parsley and remove from heat.
- Plate, garnish with extra Parmesan and parsley if desired, and serve hot.
Notes
- Note: Reserve pasta water to adjust sauce consistency and help it cling to the pasta.
- Cook pasta just to al dente so it holds its shape in the creamy sauce.
- For reheating, add a splash of broth or cream to bring the sauce back to life.
- Use freshly grated Parmesan for the smoothest melt and best flavor.
- Swap in gluten-free farfalle if needed.
