Description

A cozy, weeknight-friendly farfalle tossed in a silky tomato-cream sauce with savory ground beef, garlic, and Parmesan. Comforting, creamy, and ready in about 35 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces bowtie pasta (farfalle)
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 can (15 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup reserved pasta cooking water, as needed

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of well-salted water to a rolling boil and set a deep skillet over medium heat.
  2. Heat olive oil in the skillet, add onion and garlic, and cook until softened and fragrant, about 2 to 3 minutes. Add ground beef, season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning, and cook, breaking it up, until browned.
  3. Drain excess fat if needed. Stir in crushed tomatoes and beef broth. Simmer gently for 8 to 10 minutes to meld flavors.
  4. Cook bowtie pasta until al dente, reserving 1/2 cup pasta water before draining. Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the sauce.
  5. Pour in heavy cream and sprinkle in Parmesan. Toss until the pasta is evenly coated and the sauce turns silky. Add a splash of reserved pasta water if you want a looser sauce.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning. Stir in chopped parsley and remove from heat.
  7. Plate, garnish with extra Parmesan and parsley if desired, and serve hot.

Notes

  • Note: Reserve pasta water to adjust sauce consistency and help it cling to the pasta.
  • Cook pasta just to al dente so it holds its shape in the creamy sauce.
  • For reheating, add a splash of broth or cream to bring the sauce back to life.
  • Use freshly grated Parmesan for the smoothest melt and best flavor.
  • Swap in gluten-free farfalle if needed.
