Description
A creamy and comforting baked casserole made with tender chicken, pasta, ranch seasoning, and a rich cheesy sauce that turns golden and bubbly in the oven.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups cooked chicken, diced or shredded
- 3 cups uncooked short pasta (rotini or penne)
- 1 packet ranch seasoning mix (about 1 ounce)
- 1 can cream of chicken soup (10.5 ounces)
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
Instructions
- Preheat Your Equipment: Preheat the oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9×13 baking dish.
- Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl combine cooked chicken, cooked pasta, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, milk, ranch seasoning mix, garlic powder, and black pepper. Stir well until everything is evenly coated.
- Prepare Your Cooking Vessel: Spread a thin layer of the mixture into the greased baking dish so the base is evenly covered.
- Assemble the Dish: Pour the remaining mixture into the baking dish and spread evenly.
- Cook to Perfection: Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top and bake for 25 minutes until the casserole is hot and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Finishing Touches: Remove from the oven and sprinkle chopped parsley across the top.
- Serve and Enjoy: Let the casserole rest for about 5 minutes before serving so the sauce settles slightly.
Notes
- Cook the pasta slightly firm so it finishes cooking in the oven without becoming too soft.
- Freshly shredded cheese melts more smoothly and creates a better texture.
- The casserole can be assembled a day in advance and stored in the refrigerator before baking.
