Description

Crispy homemade buñuelos are golden, sweet, and lightly chewy discs dusted in cinnamon sugar. Perfect for holidays or a cozy treat anytime.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (for dough)
  • 1/2 cup sugar (for topping)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet to 350°F.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and 1 tablespoon sugar. Add egg, milk, and melted butter. Mix until dough forms.
  3. Divide dough into 10 balls and let rest for 10–15 minutes.
  4. Roll each ball into thin discs, about 6–7 inches wide.
  5. Fry each disc in hot oil until golden and crisp, about 30 seconds per side.
  6. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  7. While still warm, dust both sides with cinnamon sugar.
  8. Serve immediately or store for later enjoyment.

  • Use a thermometer to keep oil at consistent temperature.
  • Sprinkle sugar while buñuelos are warm for better sticking.
