Description

A hearty slow cooker dish packed with tender potatoes, thin sliced beef, sautéed peppers and onions, all finished with melted provolone cheese for a comforting cheesesteak inspired meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium russet potatoes, diced
  • 1 pound thinly sliced beef
  • 2 green bell peppers, sliced
  • 1 large yellow onion, sliced
  • 6 slices provolone cheese
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat Your Equipment: Turn the slow cooker to the low setting so it begins warming while you prepare the ingredients.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix the diced potatoes, sliced beef, green bell peppers, onion, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Prepare Your Cooking Vessel: Lightly coat the inside of the slow cooker with olive oil.
  4. Assemble the Dish: Transfer the mixture into the slow cooker and pour the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce evenly over the top.
  5. Cook to Perfection: Cover and cook on low for about 6 hours, until the potatoes are tender and the beef is fully cooked.
  6. Finishing Touches: Place the provolone slices over the top during the last 10 minutes of cooking so they melt smoothly.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Stir lightly if desired and serve warm with the melted cheese coating the potatoes and beef.

Notes

  • Slice the beef very thin for the most tender texture.
  • Dice the potatoes evenly so they cook at the same rate.
  • Add the cheese only near the end so it melts smoothly.
  • If you want deeper flavor, sauté the peppers and onions briefly before adding them to the slow cooker.
