Description

A comforting cottage pie made with rich minced beef, tender vegetables, and topped with creamy mashed potatoes baked until golden.


Ingredients

  • 500 grams ground beef
  • 800 grams potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 2 medium carrots, diced
  • 1 cup green peas
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet, cook onion and garlic until soft.
  3. Add ground beef and cook until browned.
  4. Stir in carrots, peas, tomato paste, and beef broth, then simmer until thickened.
  5. Boil potatoes in a saucepan until tender, then drain.
  6. Mash potatoes with butter and milk until smooth and creamy.
  7. Lightly grease a baking dish and spread the meat mixture evenly.
  8. Top with mashed potatoes and smooth the surface.
  9. Bake for 30 minutes until the top is golden and slightly crisp.
  10. Let rest for a few minutes before serving.
