Description

A tangy twist on the classic comfort food, this Dill Pickle Grilled Cheese layers gooey melted cheese with crunchy dill pickles between buttery, golden-grilled bread slices. Perfectly savory with a satisfying crunch in every bite.


Ingredients

  • 4 slices of sourdough or white bread
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (about 100g) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup (50g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 46 dill pickle slices (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp dried dill or a few fresh dill sprigs (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Butter one side of each bread slice.
  3. Place two slices, butter-side down, in the skillet.
  4. Top with cheddar and mozzarella cheese, evenly distributed.
  5. Add dill pickle slices over the cheese layer. Sprinkle garlic powder and dill if using.
  6. Cover with remaining bread slices, butter-side up.
  7. Grill for 3–4 minutes per side or until bread is golden brown and cheese is melted.
  8. Remove from skillet, slice in half, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use bread that’s slightly thick for a crispy outside and soft interior.
  • Try different cheeses like provolone or Swiss for variation.
