Description
A warm, buttery loaf layered with cinnamon and sugar, drizzled with sweet vanilla icing. This Dollywood classic brings the cozy flavors of the Smoky Mountains right to your kitchen.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (plus extra for brushing)
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
- Dissolve yeast in warm water with a pinch of sugar, let sit until foamy (5 minutes).
- Mix flour, granulated sugar, salt, melted butter, and yeast mixture. Knead until smooth, about 8 minutes.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
- Punch down dough, roll into a rectangle, brush with butter, and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon. Fold or twist, then place into loaf pan. Score the top.
- Bake 30–35 minutes, until golden brown and fragrant.
- Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to make icing. Drizzle over warm bread and serve.
Notes
- Use a thermometer to ensure water is around 110°F for activating yeast.
- Don’t rush the rise—letting the dough double naturally gives the best texture.
- For extra flavor, refrigerate dough overnight before baking.
