- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup dulce de leche (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a donut pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
- In another bowl, mix buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and stir until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
- Use a piping bag or spoon to fill each donut cavity 3/4 full.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes until the donuts spring back lightly when touched.
- Let donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Warm the dulce de leche slightly, then dip or drizzle over each cooled donut.
- Let glaze set before serving or enjoy warm with coffee or ice cream.
Notes
- Do not overmix the batter to keep donuts soft and fluffy.
- Use room temperature ingredients for best texture.
- Add a sprinkle of sea salt for a sweet-salty contrast.
- Store unglazed donuts in an airtight container and glaze before serving.
