- 3 medium Potatoes, boiled and mashed
- 3 tablespoons Cornflour
- 2 tablespoons Breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon Chilli Flakes (optional)
- Oil for deep frying
Instructions
- Heat oil in a deep pan over medium flame while you prepare the smileys.
- In a bowl, mash boiled potatoes until smooth. Add cornflour, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, and chilli flakes. Mix into a dough.
- Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness. Cut circles with a cutter, make eyes with a straw, and carve smiles with a spoon.
- Place shaped smileys on parchment paper to avoid sticking.
- Fry in hot oil in small batches until golden and crisp.
- Drain on paper towels and serve hot with your favorite dip.
Notes
- Chill dough for 15 minutes before shaping for easier handling.
- Do not overcrowd the frying pan.
- Use starchy potatoes for fluffier results.
- Try adding grated cheese or herbs for a twist.
