Description
These Easy Cream Puffs are light, airy pastries filled with fluffy whipped cream and dusted with powdered sugar. A bakery-style treat made simple enough to prepare at home.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a saucepan, bring water, butter, and salt to a boil. Add flour and stir until dough forms a ball.
- Transfer dough to a mixing bowl and let cool slightly.
- Beat in eggs one at a time until smooth. Spoon or pipe dough onto prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown. Do not open oven while baking.
- Cool puffs on a wire rack. Meanwhile, whip cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
- Slice cooled puffs in half, fill with cream, dust with powdered sugar, and serve immediately.
Notes
- Use room temperature eggs for smoother mixing.
- Cool shells completely before filling to avoid melting cream.
- Store unfilled shells in an airtight container and fill before serving.
- For a dairy-free version, use whipped coconut cream instead of heavy cream.
