Description

These Easy Cream Puffs are light, airy pastries filled with fluffy whipped cream and dusted with powdered sugar. A bakery-style treat made simple enough to prepare at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a saucepan, bring water, butter, and salt to a boil. Add flour and stir until dough forms a ball.
  3. Transfer dough to a mixing bowl and let cool slightly.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time until smooth. Spoon or pipe dough onto prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown. Do not open oven while baking.
  6. Cool puffs on a wire rack. Meanwhile, whip cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
  7. Slice cooled puffs in half, fill with cream, dust with powdered sugar, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use room temperature eggs for smoother mixing.
  • Cool shells completely before filling to avoid melting cream.
  • Store unfilled shells in an airtight container and fill before serving.
  • For a dairy-free version, use whipped coconut cream instead of heavy cream.
