Description

Easy Orange Curd is a smooth, tangy, and sweet spread made from fresh orange juice and zest, perfect for topping toast, scones, or adding a citrusy twist to desserts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into pieces

Instructions

  1. In a heatproof bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, orange juice, and zest until smooth.
  2. Place the bowl over a saucepan of simmering water (double boiler), making sure the bottom of the bowl doesn’t touch the water.
  3. Cook the mixture, stirring constantly, until it thickens and coats the back of a spoon, about 10–15 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and whisk in the butter pieces until fully melted and incorporated.
  5. Pour the curd into a clean jar or container and let it cool to room temperature.
  6. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving. Keeps well for up to 2 weeks in the fridge.

Notes

  • Use fresh orange juice and zest for the best flavor.
  • Stir continuously to prevent curdling or lumps.
  • This curd can also be made with lemons or limes for variation.
