Description

Elote Dogs are a fun and flavorful twist on the classic hot dog, topped with Mexican street corn-inspired ingredients like creamy mayo, cotija cheese, chili powder, and fresh lime. Perfect for summer cookouts or a quick weeknight meal with a bold flair.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 beef or turkey hot dogs
  • 4 hot dog buns
  • 1 cup corn kernels (grilled, roasted, or canned and drained)
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon sour cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 cup crumbled cotija cheese (or feta as a substitute)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped red onion (optional)
  • Lime wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Grill or pan-fry the hot dogs until cooked through and slightly charred.
  2. Warm the hot dog buns on the grill or in a pan for 1–2 minutes until soft and slightly toasted.
  3. In a bowl, mix the corn, mayonnaise, sour cream, chili powder, paprika (if using), lime juice, and a pinch of salt.
  4. Place each hot dog in a bun, then spoon the elote-style corn mixture generously over the top.
  5. Sprinkle with cotija cheese, chopped cilantro, and red onion (if using).
  6. Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side.

Notes

  • You can use frozen corn—just thaw and sauté briefly for best flavor.
  • Try jalapeños or hot sauce for a spicier version.
  • For a vegetarian version, use plant-based hot dogs.
