Description

Enoki Beef Rolls are savory and tender rolls made by wrapping thin slices of beef around delicate enoki mushrooms. These flavorful bites are quick to cook and perfect as appetizers or part of a main meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 thin slices of beef (such as ribeye or sirloin)
  • 200g enoki mushrooms, trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon mirin (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for cooking)
  • Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
  • Chopped green onions (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the enoki mushrooms by trimming the root ends and separating them into small bundles.
  2. Lay out each beef slice flat and place a small bundle of enoki mushrooms at one end.
  3. Roll the beef tightly around the mushrooms and secure with toothpicks if needed.
  4. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, mirin, sesame oil, grated ginger, and minced garlic.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  6. Place the beef rolls seam side down and cook for about 2-3 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through.
  7. Pour the sauce mixture over the rolls in the pan and cook for another 1-2 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly and coat the rolls.
  8. Remove from heat, garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use thinly sliced beef to ensure quick cooking and easy rolling.
  • To make toothpick-free rolls, secure the roll tightly and cook seam side down first.
  • Serve with steamed rice or a light dipping sauce for a complete meal.
