Description

A delicate and elegant filo tart filled with creamy mascarpone and crowned with sweet, fresh figs, finished with a drizzle of honey and optional walnuts for crunch.


Ingredients

  • 6 to 8 sheets filo pastry, thawed if frozen
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 to 8 fresh figs, sliced
  • Honey, for drizzling
  • 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and place a rack in the center.
  2. In a bowl, mix the mascarpone, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  3. Lightly grease a 9-inch tart pan or pie dish.
  4. Layer the filo sheets in the pan, brushing each one lightly with melted butter before adding the next. Let edges hang slightly over the rim.
  5. Spoon the mascarpone mixture into the center and smooth it out. Arrange sliced figs on top in your preferred pattern.
  6. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until the edges are golden and the filling is just set.
  7. Let cool slightly, then drizzle with honey and sprinkle with chopped walnuts if using.
  8. Slice and serve warm or at room temperature.
