Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
- 3 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp fine salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 8 small corn or flour tortillas
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1/2 small red onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 lime, cut into wedges
Instructions
- Preheat a cast iron skillet or heavy pan over medium heat.
- Whisk together BBQ sauce, honey, soy sauce, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl.
- Melt butter in the hot skillet, add minced garlic, and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
- Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up, until browned and no longer pink, 6 to 8 minutes.
- Pour the sauce over the beef and simmer, stirring, until glossy and slightly thickened, 3 to 5 minutes.
- Warm tortillas in a dry pan or directly over a low flame until pliable.
- Assemble tacos by spooning saucy beef into tortillas and topping with lettuce, red onion, cheddar, and cilantro. Finish with a squeeze of lime and serve.
Notes
- For extra depth, lightly char tortillas for a subtle smokiness.
- Use fresh garlic for the best aroma and flavor.
- Assemble just before eating to keep toppings crisp.
