Description

This Garlic Shrimp & Broccoli Orzo Skillet is a quick and easy one-pan dinner packed with flavor. Tender shrimp and fresh broccoli are tossed with buttery, garlicky orzo for a satisfying meal ready in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 cups dry orzo pasta
  • 2 1/2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Season the shrimp with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 2–3 minutes per side until pink and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  3. Add the remaining butter and garlic to the skillet, cooking for 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in the orzo and toast for 1–2 minutes.
  4. Pour in the broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Add the broccoli and cook for another 5 minutes until the orzo is tender and the broccoli is bright green.
  6. Stir in the cooked shrimp, Parmesan cheese, parsley, and lemon juice. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra richness, stir in a splash of heavy cream at the end.
  • Use frozen broccoli if fresh isn’t available, adding it during the last 5 minutes of cooking.
  • Substitute chicken for shrimp if desired.
