Description

Gold Chicken Crunch Sandwiches are crispy, golden chicken fillets layered in a soft bun with fresh toppings and creamy sauce. Perfectly seasoned and coated for an ultra-crunchy bite, these sandwiches are a crowd-pleasing comfort food.


Ingredients

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, halved horizontally (makes 4 fillets)
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 4 brioche or sandwich buns
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Pickles (optional)
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise or spicy mayo

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix buttermilk with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Add chicken fillets and marinate for at least 30 minutes (or up to overnight).
  2. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
  3. Heat oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Remove chicken from marinade, letting excess drip off. Dredge each piece in the dry flour mixture, pressing firmly to create a thick coating.
  5. Fry the chicken pieces in hot oil for about 5–6 minutes per side, or until golden brown and fully cooked inside. Drain on paper towels.
  6. Toast the buns lightly if desired. Spread mayo on both sides of the bun.
  7. Assemble the sandwich with lettuce, tomato, crunchy chicken fillet, and pickles (optional).
  8. Serve hot with fries or chips on the side.

Notes

  • Double dip the chicken in buttermilk and flour for extra crunch.
  • Add hot sauce to the buttermilk marinade for a spicy version.
  • Use an air fryer for a lighter version — 375°F (190°C) for about 18–20 minutes, flipping halfway.
  • For added flavor, mix garlic and paprika into the mayo.
