- 2 tbsp butter, softened
- 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

- 1/4 cup caramelized onions
- 4 slices tomato
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Spread butter evenly on one side of each bread slice.
- On the unbuttered sides, spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard if using.
- Layer half of the cheese mixture, caramelized onions, and tomato slices on two bread slices. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- Top with the remaining cheese and cover with the other bread slices, buttered side out.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the sandwiches for 3-4 minutes per side, pressing gently, until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Slice and serve warm.
