Description

These heart-shaped sugar cookies are soft, buttery, and perfectly sweet, ideal for Valentine’s Day or any special occasion. Decorate them with icing and sprinkles for a fun, festive treat that everyone will love.


Ingredients

  • 2 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla extract and mix until combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
  5. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill for at least 1 hour.
  6. On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut with heart-shaped cookie cutters.
  7. Place cookies on baking sheets and bake for 8–10 minutes, until edges are lightly golden.
  8. Cool cookies on baking sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to wire rack to cool completely before decorating.
