Description
Crispy, golden grilled cheese sandwiches elevated with a fresh herb crust and a gooey blend of cheddar and mozzarella inside. A flavorful twist on a beloved comfort classic.
Ingredients
- Sourdough Bread: 4 slices
- Cheddar Cheese: 1 cup shredded
- Mozzarella Cheese: 1/2 cup shredded
- Unsalted Butter: 4 tablespoons, softened
- Fresh Parsley: 1 tablespoon finely chopped
- Fresh Thyme Leaves: 1 teaspoon
- Fresh Chives: 1 tablespoon chopped
- Garlic Powder: 1/4 teaspoon
- Salt: A pinch
Instructions
- Place your skillet over medium-low heat to warm up while you prep.
- In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with chopped parsley, thyme, chives, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt until well combined.
- Lightly oil or wipe the skillet to prevent sticking if needed.
- Butter one side of each slice of bread with the herb mixture. Place shredded cheeses between two slices, keeping the buttered side facing out.
- Lay the sandwich in the warm skillet. Cook for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.
- Let the sandwich rest on a cutting board for about 30 seconds to help everything settle.
- Slice diagonally, serve with soup or salad, and enjoy.
Notes
- Use freshly shredded cheese for the best melt.
- Don’t rush the cooking—medium-low heat gives the best results.
- Prepare herb butter ahead to save time on busy days.
- Try different cheese combinations for new flavor twists.
