- Granulated sugar, 1 cup
- Heavy cream, 1 cup
- Unsalted butter, 4 tablespoons
- Semi-sweet chocolate chips, 1/2 cup
- Light corn syrup, 1/4 cup
- Fine salt, 1/4 teaspoon
- Vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon
Instructions
- Preheat Your Equipment: Set a medium saucepan on the stove over medium heat.
- Combine Ingredients: Add cocoa powder, sugar, corn syrup, and heavy cream to the pan, then whisk until the mixture is smooth with no dry pockets.
- Prepare Your Cooking Vessel: Let the mixture warm gently, whisking often and scraping the sides to prevent sticking.
- Assemble the Dish: Add the butter and chocolate chips, whisking until the chocolate is fully melted and the sauce looks glossy.
- Cook to Perfection: Continue to cook for 5 to 7 minutes, whisking, until the sauce thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
- Finishing Touches: Remove from heat, whisk in the salt and vanilla, and adjust thickness with a splash of warm cream if needed.
- Serve and Enjoy: Pour over ice cream or your favorite dessert and serve warm.
Notes
- Note: Whisk continuously to prevent scorching and graininess.

- For deeper flavor, add a pinch of espresso powder.
- Store in a jar in the fridge for up to 2 weeks, then rewarm gently.
