- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

- Optional: 1/2 cup chopped pecans or white chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter and brown sugar until smooth.
- Add maple syrup, egg, and vanilla extract. Whisk until fully combined.
- Stir in flour, salt, and baking powder until just mixed. Do not overmix.
- Fold in pecans or white chocolate chips, if using.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the center is set and a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
