Description
Marble Swirl Bread is a soft, tender loaf with beautiful chocolate and vanilla swirls running through each slice. Perfect for breakfast, snacking, or as a sweet treat with tea or coffee.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup warm milk (110°F)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp additional milk (for cocoa mixture)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Stir in melted butter, egg, vanilla, salt, and flour until a dough forms. Knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Divide the dough in half. Mix the cocoa powder and additional milk into one half until fully incorporated.
- Roll out each dough half into a rectangle. Stack one on top of the other and roll up tightly to form a log. Place into a greased loaf pan.
- Cover and let rise in a warm place for 45-60 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, brush the top of the loaf with melted butter after baking.
- Try adding a sprinkle of cinnamon or espresso powder to the chocolate dough for extra depth.
- This bread freezes well; wrap tightly and store for up to 2 months.
