Description

Marble Swirl Bread is a soft, tender loaf with beautiful chocolate and vanilla swirls running through each slice. Perfect for breakfast, snacking, or as a sweet treat with tea or coffee.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp additional milk (for cocoa mixture)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Stir in melted butter, egg, vanilla, salt, and flour until a dough forms. Knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Divide the dough in half. Mix the cocoa powder and additional milk into one half until fully incorporated.
  4. Roll out each dough half into a rectangle. Stack one on top of the other and roll up tightly to form a log. Place into a greased loaf pan.
  5. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 45-60 minutes or until doubled in size.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, brush the top of the loaf with melted butter after baking.
  • Try adding a sprinkle of cinnamon or espresso powder to the chocolate dough for extra depth.
  • This bread freezes well; wrap tightly and store for up to 2 months.
