- 1 small yellow onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ⅓ cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

- 3 cups mashed potatoes
- ¼ cup milk
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F and grease a 9×9 casserole dish.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté onions and garlic until soft.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned. Stir in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and thyme. Simmer for 3–5 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix mashed potatoes with milk and butter until smooth.
- Layer the meat mixture evenly in the prepared dish. Spread mashed potatoes over the top.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese as the final layer.
- Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes until cheese is melted and golden.
