Description

A rich and comforting baked pasta layered with tender spaghetti, savory ground beef marinara sauce, and a creamy blend of ricotta, cream cheese, and sour cream, all topped with melted mozzarella and Parmesan for a golden, bubbly finish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 ounces dry spaghetti pasta
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 24 ounces marinara sauce
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt, divided
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Cook spaghetti in salted boiling water until just shy of al dente. Drain well.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef. Season with half of the salt and black pepper. Stir in marinara sauce and simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, softened cream cheese, sour cream, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and remaining salt until smooth and creamy.
  5. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  6. Toss drained spaghetti with sliced butter until coated. Layer half of the spaghetti in the dish.
  7. Spread the cheese mixture evenly over the spaghetti layer.
  8. Top with the remaining spaghetti, then pour the meat sauce evenly over the top.
  9. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the sauce.
  10. Bake uncovered for 35 to 40 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  11. Remove from oven, sprinkle with fresh parsley, and let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Slightly undercook the pasta so it finishes perfectly in the oven.
  • Allow the dish to rest before slicing to help the layers set.
  • You can assemble the dish up to 24 hours ahead and refrigerate before baking.
