Description

This moist applesauce bread is a cozy, flavorful treat that’s easy to make and perfect for breakfast, dessert, or a quick snack. Made with warm spices and sweet applesauce, it’s incredibly soft and tender in every bite.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts or raisins (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the oil, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until well combined. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the applesauce and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix. Fold in nuts or raisins if using.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 50–60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Use unsweetened applesauce for better control over sweetness.
  • This bread can be wrapped and stored at room temperature for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
