Description

A warm, fruity dessert made with sweet, juicy peaches and a buttery, biscuit-like topping. This classic peach cobbler is perfect for any occasion, especially when served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups fresh or frozen peaches, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
  • Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish or a similar-sized casserole dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the peaches, 1 cup sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch. Stir to coat the peaches and set aside to allow the juices to release.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and 1/4 cup sugar.
  4. Pour in the melted butter and milk, stirring until just combined. The dough will be thick and sticky.
  5. Pour the peach mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly. Drop spoonfuls of the biscuit dough over the top of the peaches, covering as much of the surface as possible.
  6. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the peaches are bubbling around the edges.
  7. Let the cobbler cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.

Notes

  • For a twist, you can add a handful of blueberries or blackberries to the peach mixture.
  • If using frozen peaches, thaw and drain them to avoid excess liquid in the filling.
  • This cobbler can be stored at room temperature for 1-2 days or refrigerated for up to 3 days.
