Description

Tender jumbo pasta shells are stuffed with a creamy, savory ground beef filling made with sautéed green peppers and onions, then topped with melty provolone cheese and baked until hot and golden. It brings all the cozy, cheesy flavors of a Philly cheesesteak into a hearty pasta dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 20 jumbo pasta shells
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded provolone cheese
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the jumbo pasta shells until just tender. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  4. Add the olive oil, diced onion, and diced green bell pepper to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are softened.
  5. Stir in the cream cheese, beef broth, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Cook and stir until the mixture is creamy and well combined.
  6. Stuff each cooked shell with the beef mixture and arrange the shells in the prepared baking dish.
  7. Sprinkle the shredded provolone cheese evenly over the shells.
  8. Bake for 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and lightly golden.
  9. Let the dish rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Cook the pasta shells slightly under the package directions so they stay firm enough to stuff.
  • Freshly shredded provolone melts more smoothly than pre-shredded cheese.
  • You can assemble the dish ahead of time and refrigerate it before baking.
  • Leftovers keep well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
