Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 1/2 cups (420g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) warm milk
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) warm water
  • 1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup (160g) strawberry jam
  • 1/4 cup (50g) brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening filling)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
  • 1/2 cup (60g) powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tbsp strawberry puree or juice (for glaze)
  • 12 drops natural pink food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk, warm water, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Stir in sugar, melted butter, egg, and salt.
  3. Add flour gradually and knead until a soft dough forms. Knead for 5–7 minutes or until smooth.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a 12×18 inch rectangle.
  6. Spread with softened butter. In a bowl, mix strawberry jam, brown sugar, cinnamon, and cornstarch. Spread over the dough.
  7. Roll tightly from the long side and cut into 12 even rolls.
  8. Place in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 20–25 minutes or until golden and cooked through.
  10. Mix powdered sugar with strawberry puree and food coloring to make the glaze. Drizzle over slightly cooled rolls.
  11. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • You can use fresh mashed strawberries instead of jam for a chunkier filling.
  • Try adding a few chopped strawberries into the filling for texture.
  • For a dairy-free version, substitute plant-based milk and butter.
