Description

Soft and fluffy Turkish savory rolls filled with a creamy mixture of mashed potatoes and cheese, perfect for breakfast, snacks, or tea-time treats.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg (white for dough, yolk for brushing)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 medium potatoes, peeled and mashed
  • 1/2 cup feta cheese or white cheese, crumbled
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (optional)
  • Sesame seeds or nigella seeds (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Add yogurt, milk, oil, and egg white. Knead into a soft dough.
  3. In another bowl, mix mashed potatoes, cheese, and parsley for the filling. Season to taste.
  4. Divide dough into equal pieces, flatten each, and place a spoonful of filling in the center. Seal and shape into round or oval rolls.
  5. Place rolls on the baking tray, brush with egg yolk, and sprinkle with sesame or nigella seeds.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • You can use different cheeses or add sautéed onions for variation.
  • These rolls freeze well—just reheat before serving.
