- 1/2 cup uncooked long-grain white rice
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 400g (14 oz) canned crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, uncooked rice, chopped onion, egg, breadcrumbs, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Shape mixture into 1 1/2-inch meatballs and place them in a greased baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, mix crushed tomatoes, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce.
- Pour the tomato mixture over the meatballs, ensuring they are mostly covered.
- Bake uncovered for 1 hour or until meatballs are cooked through and rice is tender.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
- Use brown rice for a nuttier flavor, but increase cooking time accordingly.
- For extra moisture, add a splash of milk to the meatball mixture.
- Serve with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
