These puff pastry apple pies are golden, flaky, and filled with warm, cinnamon-spiced apples. Perfectly portable and incredibly cozy, they’re the ideal treat for any season.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 puff pastry sheets, thawed
- 3 medium apples, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg, beaten
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and flour until well coated.
- Lightly flour your surface and roll out the puff pastry sheets. Cut each sheet into 4 equal squares.
- Spoon apple mixture onto the center of each square, leaving a border. Fold the pastry over into triangles or rectangles and seal the edges with a fork.
- Place the pies on the baking sheet. Brush the tops with beaten egg.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with glaze.
Notes
- Keep puff pastry cold for maximum flakiness.
- Use firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for best texture.
- Freeze unbaked pies for a make-ahead option.
- Reheat in a toaster oven for a fresh-baked feel.
