Description
A simple and comforting dish made with seasoned ground beef, rice, and aromatic spices. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or meal prep.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 1 cup long-grain white rice
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef broth or water
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste (optional)
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet or saucepan over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3–4 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Stir in tomato paste (if using), paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper. Cook for 2 minutes to combine flavors.
- Add uncooked rice and stir to coat with the beef and spices.
- Pour in beef broth or water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18–20 minutes, or until rice is cooked and liquid is absorbed.
- Fluff with a fork and let sit covered for 5 minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired and serve warm.
Notes
- You can add chopped vegetables like bell peppers or peas for extra nutrition.
- Brown rice can be used instead of white rice; adjust cooking time accordingly.
- This dish keeps well in the fridge and is great for meal prep.
