Description

A simple and comforting dish made with seasoned ground beef, rice, and aromatic spices. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or meal prep.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth or water
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet or saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3–4 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
  3. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  4. Stir in tomato paste (if using), paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper. Cook for 2 minutes to combine flavors.
  5. Add uncooked rice and stir to coat with the beef and spices.
  6. Pour in beef broth or water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18–20 minutes, or until rice is cooked and liquid is absorbed.
  7. Fluff with a fork and let sit covered for 5 minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired and serve warm.

Notes

  • You can add chopped vegetables like bell peppers or peas for extra nutrition.
  • Brown rice can be used instead of white rice; adjust cooking time accordingly.
  • This dish keeps well in the fridge and is great for meal prep.
